From Pastor's Heart :
Water Baptism
Recently we had another Water Baptism Service for our church. As I was preparing for the service, my mind went back to the day when I was baptized. I was just saved a few months earlier. My heart was so overwhelmed with God's love for me and my love for Him. I was very eager to do whatever was required of me as a Christian. I wanted to give Him not only my heart but my life as well. I can still remember very vividly what I was wearing on the day of baptism. In my excitement over the service, I forgot to empty out my pockets. I went down under the water with my wallet and all. I can still remember hearing some chuckles from the crowd watching. Everything I had in my pockets was soaked. I thought that was the dumbest thing that I had done at that time. Looking back, having a better understanding of the significance of the water baptism, I now realize that it was exactly what the Lord had wanted from me - to die to all. It is only when we die that we experience His resurrection power.
"Unless a grain of wheat falls into the ground and dies, it remains alone; but if it dies, it produces much grain" ~John 12:24
