Pastor's Testimony

Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new
(II Corinthians 5:17)

I was raised in Taiwan without any religious belief. My family migrated to The United States in 1970 when I was eleven years old. I could not speak English and had to learn the alphabet. Because of my nationality and language barrier, I suffered many verbal and sometimes physical abuses. We did not have close relationships in our family, and I was unable to share the pain that I suffered with my family. My teenage years were filled with loneliness, rejection, and humiliation. I was very withdrawn and insecure, and I saw myself as an inferior. Deep down inside of me was a cry for love and acceptance. That longing for acceptance caused me to be involved with the wrong crowd and to do wrong things trying to be accepted. I was acquainted with the psychology of behavior and was able to make some outward adjustments, but the people around me only saw the masks that I was wearing. In 1983, I graduated from NC State University with a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, and I had a good job at Nortel as Design Engineer. I had what the world would have called "a road to success", yet my world was crumbling and falling apart. With a deep-rooted inferiority complex and insecurity, I hated myself and life itself. Life began to lose its meaning for me, and I was living with no sense of purpose and direction.

In August of 1983, I was invited to a beach party, and there I had an encounter with God in a sovereign way. For the first time in my life I saw the reality of Him, and I left that place with an urge to know God. That same weekend, I was handed a gospel booklet. I had no clear understanding of the gospel message at that time, except that I had an intense desire to know God. The gospel booklet did not make sense to me, but I knew (by the Spirit) that I had to commit myself to Him in order to know Him. On August 27, 1983 Saturday afternoon at about 3:40PM, I went down on my knees by my bed and poured out my heart over the sinner's prayer on the back of the booklet. I received Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior. The revelation of God's love suddenly flooded my entire being and overwhelmed me, and I fell on my bed and wept for some time. The love that Jesus has for us can NEVER be expressed with words. I had a very profound conversion experience and was radically changed. My life was transformed from darkness to light from that very moment. I found that God not only loved me and accepted me just as I am, but He also placed all my pain, sorrow, and rejection upon Jesus as He died for my sins and arose for my salvation. From time to time I can still hear Him whispering to me, "Son, men look at you from the outside, but I am looking at you from the inside, and I love you!" He gave me a new heart, a new life, and a true purpose for living not only in this life but also throughout eternity in heaven. I would not trade this life for ANYTHING in the world. Jesus has truly set me free. I am now able to face life with anticipation and with my head high and lifted-up. Life is becoming brighter and brighter as my relationship with the Lord becomes more and more intimate.

Friends, I know what it is like to live in bondage constantly tormented by the dark hours of loneliness and emptiness. I know what it is like to be full of insecurity constantly seeking the approval of others. I know what it is like to be full of hurts and rejections constantly longing for love and affection. Having been through what I have been through, I can honestly say to you from the depth of my heart that TRUE Christianity is not a bondage, but liberty. It is not a psychological make believe, but spiritual transformation. It is not a crutch, but power to live. Perhaps you may be like I once was, hiding behind masks and imprisoned in your own prison. God wants to set you free and for you to experience the fullness of His life. He has placed within you a Key - His name is Jesus! Let Jesus come into your life. It will be a decision that will change your life FOREVER!!!

The Bible gives very simple instruction to be saved or born again:

John3:16
For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.

John 5:24
Most assuredly, I say to you, he who hears My word and believes in Him who sent Me has everlasting life, and shall not come into judgment, but has passed from death into life.

Romans 10:9-10
That if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes to righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made to salvation.

Revelation 3:20
Behold, I stand at the door (your heart) and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him.

If you would like to receive Jesus as Lord and Savior, pray the following prayer FROM YOUR HEART to God:

Dear Heavenly Father, I come to you in the name of Jesus I believe in my heart Jesus Christ is the Son of God. I believe in my heart that Jesus died for my sin and was raised from the dead for my salvation. I now open my heart to receive Jesus as my Lord and my Savior. I now declare, Jesus is my Lord and Jesus is my Savior. By faith in Jesus, I am now saved. In Jesus' name, Amen.

If you have received Jesus into your heart, please write and let me rejoice with you!
